Card weaving at the guild

February 12, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The Greater Birmingham Fiber Guild met on Saturday at The Birmingham Museum of Art, with Susie leading the program on Card-Weaving.  We had two visitors from Selma that came up to visit along with two other new visitors.  There are usually 24 cards to be used, 4 holes in each, two C clamps spread apart for the distance you want your warp to be.  The cards are threaded through the holes, 2 threads on top and 2 on the bottom to make your shed.   Pretty interesting the way it all works.

Knit Nouveau makes the Birmingham News

September 17, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Knit Nouveau, the coolest knit shop in Birmingham, made the Birmingham News on Saturday.  They did a great article on the shop, good pictures of Mercedes and Reggie.  The article covered all the new and colorful yarns out there, as well as all the different types – natural yarns made of cotton, wool, buffalo, alpaca, angora and mohair, yarns made out of bamboo, soy, hemp, sea algae and more.   Visit http://knitn.com/ for the latest.
